My undergraduate degree is in Mass Communications with an emphasis in television production. The early part of my career was spent writing and producing television commercials and documentaries. That foundation and experience have helped me continue to tell stories through video.
While I haven’t been behind the camera or actively editing projects in many years, I have found my niche serving as the writer and executive producer on many video projects during the past few years that I am proud of.
One of my favorite projects was the documentary Cancer – The Lost History of Penrose Hospital. I was the writer and executive producer for this project. The goal of this project was simply to capture the history of the Penrose Cancer Hospital. This documentary was premiered at the Broadmoor Hotel Theater in 2019 to an audience of community leaders, people featured in the show and physicians and staff from the Penrose Cancer Center. Rich Praytor was the editor and videographer for this show.
I noted Beyond the Waiting Room in the marketing projects but I served as the executive producer of the Beyond the Waiting Room video series. Only one episode of the four video series has been saved but that episode has more than 1 million views.
This was my project from concept, design and creative to writing and producing. Rich Praytor was the director and videographer on this series. Other episodes included the Children’s ER at St. Francis, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Rehabilitation Unit.
I am in the IMDb list as the location manager for the feature film Kessler’s Lab, filmed in 2017 on location in the old St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. The movie is still available on Amazon Prime.
Some projects are just fun, especially when the school mascot is the star. Each year, the UCCS Chancellor creates a video message that is sent to the campus. Here is one example of a video in which I developed the concept, wrote the script and produced the video. Shooting and editing was done by the UCCS Video Production Department.
